Untitled, oil on canvas, 50 x 70 cm, 2009

I was fascinated by the conflicting emotions brought by the beautiful natural light that makes the scene kind of Vermeerish and the actual motives of this piece of Russian low budget pornography. I chose to paint the whole monitor and junk around it to bring in the other end of the realism.

Untitled, folded magazine, 30 x 23 cm, 2009

I found these artefacts [above and below] from a cardboard box in secondhand car part sale. I picked out the most damaged items and made the salesperson very confused. He was clearly unaware of their aesthetic values.

Copy, paper, A4, 2010

This work is an inkjet copy of a drawing that I made with soft pastels. I really like the distortive and erasing effects that copying gives. A controllable method of brutally accelerated decay. If compared to the magazine above, that have had a natural path of erosion, the copy method gives the satisfaction based on processing. The magazine is more effective as an evidence of decay, an object.
